Is DevMate Paddle now?

DevMate’s features will be offered as part of Paddle’s wider platform, providing software developers with a comprehensive set of tools designed to make building, managing and selling software online easy.

What is changing for me as a DevMate user?

Paddle and DevMate are fully integrated, and Paddle is now offered as the standard payments option in the DevMate platform - if you are interested in getting in touch with us about using Paddle, please contact sales@paddle.com.


All other features and tools available through DevMate will remain unchanged, and these will continue to evolve and develop as time goes by.

How will DevMate be changing?

Nothing will change for the DevMate brand for the time being. The platform will stay the same, and will continue to evolve to support what you build and manage your apps in new and exciting ways.

Who are Paddle?

What are the benefits of switching to Paddle?

With the payments capability built into DevMate, we're able to improve the analytics and feature-set currently on offer. Our merged product will allow you to control your user flow from trial download all the way through to purchase.

Can I use DevMate and Paddle together?

Of course! Paddle and DeMate are closely integrated and we’ll be working closely together to offer software sellers a complete platform which enhances their experience and the experience of their customers throughout the development, release and sale of every product type, on every platform.

What’s happening to MacPaw?

MacPaw first built-out the DevMate feature set 5 years ago, and have successfully run all of their applications on the DevMate infrastructure ever since. Including their flagship product, CleanMyMac.


MacPaw will continue to use DevMate to manage & distribute their apps, while taking advantage of the new possibilities Paddle's payment infrastructure has made available to DevMate users.

Why have DevMate & Paddle merged?

Through DevMate, MacPaw have created a leading suite of developer tools available through a single, easy to access platform, but without a billing component this could never provide the complete solution that our customers required when marketing their software.


By coming together with Paddle, DevMate will be able to combine the features of the leading developer tools platform with those of the leading payments platform, allowing us to meet the changing needs of our customers. We’re excited that Paddle will be able to support DevMate in becoming a fully end-to-end toolkit for our growing community of developers across Mac, Windows and mobile platforms.

When will the integration between Paddle and DevMate be finished?

It’s already live! You can start to use Paddle and DevMate right away, and as a combined toolkit we’ll be continuing to offer new and exciting new ways to develop and sell your software online.

Pricing

Will the price of DevMate be changing?

No, the price of DevMate won’t be changing for the transition period.

How much does Paddle cost? (Is it cheaper than FastSpring?)

Paddle charges 5%+$0.50¢ per-sale - volume discounts are available to those processing high volumes.

Will the free (basic) plan on DevMate remain for developers?

Yes, whilst we are integrating DevMate and Paddle all plans and pricing models will remain in place.

Payments

I’m a FastSpring customer - can I continue to use FastSpring?

Yes, DevMate will continue to support the current FastSpring integration.


We advise current FastSpring users to get in touch via devmate.com/support to discuss support further.

How will integrating with Paddle be different from integrating with FastSpring?

Integrating Paddle and DevMate is quick and simple. After connecting your DevMate and Paddle accounts, each product in your Paddle products list will be able to be linked to an associated DevMate product. This will begin syncing your sales data with the product data captured in DevMate.


In the Paddle vendor dashboard, you can also configure the DevMate fulfilment options via an easy to navigate Release Checklist - allowing you to map different license types and options to your new and existing Paddle products.

Will I be able to integrate with any other payments platforms?

Paddle will be the primary payments platform that DevMate supports, and DevMate customers will also be able to integrate with FastSpring if required.

I see that Paddle provides licensing, trials and demo features also - how is this different to DevMate and which should I be using?

Both Paddle and DevMate provide excellent SDKs in order to offer trials & licensing on Mac and Windows. We advise you to assess both sets of documentation and choose the best product for your needs.

I’m selling in lots of different countries, does Paddle support multiple currencies?

Of course! Paddle currently support all major credit/debit cards, PayPal and purchase orders and we’ll be adding in many more payment methods including wire transfers and AliPay in the near future!


We also don’t charge any fees for cross-border sales, meaning every one of your sales around the world is charged at the same rate.

How does Paddle let me customise my checkout?

Paddle’s online checkout sits within your website ensuring a seamless purchasing process and giving your customers the impression that they’re never moving away from your site - this results in our high checkout conversion rates.


Sellers can customise our checkout to include additional checkout buttons, bespoke checkout flows, bundles, upsells and coupons.


Our checkout can also be automatically localised for different languages/currencies, and sellers can capture additional customer information.

I’m selling subscription software / SaaS products - is Paddle able to support this kind of billing?

Definitely! Paddle’s flexible billing options are built with subscription software sellers in mind, and will allow you to set up the appropriate parameters for each of your subscription products and customers.


Paddle’s subscriptions API allows you to customise and modify your subscription plans, as well as supporting upgrades/downgrades, pricing modifiers, cancellations and payment reschedules.

What’s changing for me as a Paddle customer?

All of Paddle’s customers can access to the DevMate platform and all of these great features immediately. Connecting Paddle and DevMate is quick and easy and will allow you to begin combining sales and refund data from Paddle with DevMate’s own application and user data to create detailed, insightful reports.

Account

Is DevMate and Paddle available to be accessed as one-account?

For the time being, you will need to link a DevMate and a Paddle account in order to make full use of the features of both platforms.

Will I have to have a Paddle account to sell through Paddle? Or can I just use my DevMate one?

Yes, you will need to sign up for a Paddle account before you begin to sell products through the Paddle platform.

What’s happening to the DevMate platform?

Going forwards Paddle will operate and support the DevMate platform. As we integrate closely, DevMate and Paddle’s complimentary products will expand to become an all-in-one toolkit for developers, providing the simplest way to build, manage and sell software online.

How will I get access to technical support now?

Contacting DevMate’s support team hasn’t changed - we can be reached via our dedicated support portal - https://devmate.com/support.

How will Paddle’s payments data integrate into my DevMate dashboard?

Integrating Paddle and DevMate is quick and simple. After connecting your DevMate and Paddle accounts, each product in your Paddle products list will be able to be linked to an associated DevMate product. This will enable the syncing of your Paddle sales data with the products in DevMate.


In the Paddle Vendor Dashboard, you can also configure the DevMate fulfilment options via an easy to navigate Release Checklist - allowing you to map different license types and options to your new and existing unreleased Paddle products.
